A record ten children reached the gold standard during the IMWS 2014 ECB Cricket for Kids course held at the Al-Hikmah Centre. The course, which was in partnership with Kirklees Council, was open to children aged between 8 to 12 years and began in January this year.
The nine week course, now in its seventh year, concluded in March and was attended by 55 participants. Since its beginning seven years ago 476 youngsters have revelled at the opportunity, and the course remains as popular as ever.
At a presentation ceremony held at the Al-Hikmah Centre 10 golds, 19 silver and 26 Bronze were awarded. Chair of IMWS, Mohamed Mulla, thanked the coaches and everyone involved in making this another successful year.
Mr Mulla told Paigaam “It is a fantastic event. It demonstrated that the Society has the interest of its young people at its heart. We have been doing the cricket coaching for the past seven years and every year it is getting ever so popular.
“We would like to see a few of these young people playing for Yorkshire CC one day and for England. That would be a very proud day in the history of IMWS”
He further added “I admire the parents and relatives who turned up to the presentation event. I would publicly like to thank all those including KMC, our staff, coaches etc. who worked hard to make the coaching event successful.”
