madni & ParadiseYear 3 and 4 students from two local Muslim schools in Dewsbury joined forces last month to clean up a local park in Saville Town.

The clean-up was arranged by Madni Muslim Girls’ Primary School together with Paradise Primary School and in just 1 hour the pupils collected 12 bags of litter.

The children were extremely proud of their joint efforts and commented, “Our school and Paradise school worked really well as a team to clean up our local area.”

As well as rubbish bags the pupils were kitted out with Hi-viz jackets and gloves and advised by supervisors if they came across any dangerous or harmful materials.

The schools told Paigaam, “The children thoroughly enjoyed their time and many competed against each other to see who could collect the most. The children were enthusiastic, keen and a credit to both schools.

“It was a joint effort between two local schools which encouraged the children to make new friends.   It also enabled the children to learn some key values such as local cohesion, taking pride in the community and looking after the environment. As one of the children said “it’s important we keep our community clean.”
