Darul Uloom Al Arabiya Al Islamiyah, Bury, has received ‘outstanding’ in every area of the school in its latest inspection by Ofsted. Inspectors found the quality of teaching, achievement of pupils, sixth form provision, leadership and management and behaviour and safety, were amongst the highest in the country during an inspection conducted with only a day’s notice at the starting of last month.
The report said spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, and behaviour have remained exemplary since its last inspection in 2011, where the Darul Uloom received a rating of ‘good’. Whilst teaching and achievement have improved from good to outstanding.
The latest report also found the students’ outstanding achievement prepares them extremely well for the future with the majority making ‘outstanding progress’ including English and mathematic, science and ICT, ensuring the pupils are very well prepared for their future economic wellbeing.
Outstanding teaching was also recognised in both secular and Islamic education, giving a ‘rounded education’ the pupils said they enjoyed.
The ‘remarkable’ personal development and behaviour of the students was recognised by the inspectors as a very positive contribution to their learning. “The school is a very orderly, safe, and peaceful community” the report said adding, “students respond very quickly to the school’s high expectations regarding behaviour and blossom into caring young citizens who want to take their place in modern Britain by making a significant contribution to the community.”
The inspection was conducted on a days notice and scrutinised 17 classes being taught by 17 members of staff as well as samples of the students work on a number of subjects over the two day inspection.
In 2011behaviour and quality of provisions for pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development had already been recognised as being outstanding, whilts all the other areas were seen as good.
This latest inspection further emphasis the Darul Ulooms commitment and continued progress in all aspects and is a shinning example to all schools, not just faith based, across the country.
